National Dental Hygiene Month

October is Dental Hygiene Month... but at Pro-Fi 20/20 it's financial hygiene month.

Most dentists do not enjoy reading financial reports. We spend a lot of time trying to change that. Most often, we relate the importance of bookkeeping and reporting back to dentistry: Bookkeeping is to taxes and planning as hygiene is to dentistry. If a patient doesn't brush and floss regularly, or come in for their semi-annual cleanings, their long term oral health is going to suffer. The same goes for taxes. If your bookkeeping is done incorrectly, the health of your tax return is going to be affected. What does that mean? It means you're going to overpay taxes, miss deduction opportunities, and expose yourself to an audit risk.

So why October?

We chose October as Financial Hygiene Month because 1: it's a fun play off of dental hygiene month, and 2: if you commit to getting your books and reporting in order during October, we can have you all cleaned up and ready to go for the new year. It also means we have time to provide year-end tax planning to take advantage of any last minute tax reduction strategies.

You are ethically bound to educate your patients on proper oral health habits. We consider ourselves bound by the same principles.

Most dentists got into dentistry because they want to help others. You feel valued when you can make a difference in a person’s smile or overall dental health.

There's a reason that every mega-rich person you can think of is heavily invested in real estate. Revenue streams aside, there are some major perks to getting into commercial property. One of those perks can be found in the handy-dandy IRS Tax Code. It's called a Cost Segregation Study.
